Expert Talk on Technology Readiness Level and Tech Transfer Held at AdtU

The Expert Talk on Technology Readiness Level and Tech Transfer took place at Assam down town University. This event, authorized by the Registrar’s Office, was organized by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), down town Venture Labs (dtVL), Directorate of Innovation, Startup and Acceleration (DISA), and E-Cell. The talk was led by industry expert Mr. Dipankar Bagchi, who provided valuable insights into the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) framework and its applications, especially within the pharmaceutical field.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. trinayan deka, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, who introduced the topic and the esteemed speaker. Mr. Bagchi then presented an overview of the TRL framework, explaining its importance in assessing a technology’s maturity from initial concept to market readiness. The highlight of the event was an in-depth case study on Zydus’s innovative drug, Lipaglyn, where Mr. Bagchi illustrated the development journey through various TRL stages, detailing the regulatory processes, intellectual property issues, and market deployment strategies involved.

The discussion also delved into the challenges of technology transfer within the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on the obstacles faced by Zydus in bringing Lipaglyn to market, including regulatory compliance and market-entry challenges. The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage with Mr. Bagchi, asking questions on intellectual property, global marketing strategies, and more. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for Mr. Bagchi’s contributions and insights into the tech transfer process in pharmaceuticals.

The talk achieved its objectives, providing students and faculty with a clearer understanding of the TRL framework, real-world challenges in pharmaceutical tech transfer, and the complexities of regulatory approvals. Participants left inspired to explore innovative healthcare solutions, equipped with a deeper awareness of the essential role that technology readiness and transfer play in advancing healthcare.
