The mission of the M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology programme is to prepare competent and effective professionals committed to generalising clinical practice with the ability to respond to the needs of individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations. The programme is committed to understanding the mental health issues of human beings. It aims at identifying and addressing community needs and issues, including those related to mental abuse and cultural diversity. This course provides students the opportunity to practice and provide a variety of counselling related activities that would normally be expected of a regularly employed counsellor. Prior to starting out the third semester, students must complete at least 30 days of block internship with hospitals, organizations, or clinics under a clinical psychologist/psychiatrist. During the third semester, the students should attend organizations. Expected learning should be with the following aspects: 1. Organizational Visit for 16 days is compulsory for the M.SC Clinical psychology students. 2. Students will be divided into groups for one-to-one learning and for effective participation. 3. Course Overview

A course designed to make the student aware of stress and how it can impact his/her quality of life. It will provide methods for identifying stressors and strategies to effectively manage them. Students will be able to construct a personalized lifestyle management program.

  • Describe and explain the nature of stress, the stress response, the causes of stress, the relationship between stress and disease, and a holistic approach to stress management.
  • Assess and describe the impact of stress on one's own body, mind, spirit, and emotions.
  • Identity, describe and practice research-based coping strategies and relaxation techniques that contribute to managing life's stress.

Course Overview

Child Disorders and Management prepares teachers, learners, service providers, and community mental health professionals to apply developmental theories and research to the understanding of social learning and behavior challenges of children and adolescents.   • Understand the psychological and social aspects of chronic or severe illness in childhood
  • Investigations/examinations which are used to support diagnoses and assess relevant differential diagnoses

  • Synthesize the Issues of Clinical Significance

Course Overview

This course provides students the opportunity to practice and provide a variety of counseling related activities that would normally be expected of a regularly employed counselor. Prior to starting out the third semester, students must complete at least 30 days of block internship with hospitals, organizations, or clinics under a clinical psychologist/psychiatrist.

  • Extend acquired clinical knowledge in the field of mental health at a community level.

  • Will be able to implement the knowledge gain from the clinical internship exposure in real world.
