Assam down town University Hosts Filipino Cuisine Workshop, Day 1 Highlights!

Assam down town University proudly commenced the Filipino Cuisine Workshop on March 11, 2025, at the Discipline of Hospitality & Tourism Management, bringing an exciting global culinary experience to students. The workshop is led by Chef Janiel Joel J. Mendoza, Program Chairperson & Associate Professor, Hospitality Management at Holy Angel University, Philippines, who is renowned for his expertise in both traditional and modern Filipino cooking.

On the first day, students were introduced to the rich and diverse flavors of Filipino cuisine through hands-on cooking sessions and engaging demonstrations. Chef Mendoza shared insights into Filipino culinary heritage while guiding participants in preparing three dishes, Ensaladang Pako, a refreshing salad course; Suam na Mais, a comforting corn soup; and Sinanglay na Tilapia, a flavorful main course.

The workshop, aimed at fostering cross-cultural learning, aligns with AdtU’s commitment to providing global culinary exposure to its students. With an exciting lineup planned for Day 2, the workshop continues to be a unique opportunity for students to refine their skills and broaden their gastronomic knowledge.
