Assam down town University successfully held the “Rock on Fire” culinary competition, a flagship initiative organized by the Discipline of Hospitality and Tourism Management under the Faculty of Commerce and Management.
This year’s edition of the competition witnessed the enthusiastic participation of six dynamic teams, The Alchemists, The Spicy Bites, The Culinary Crew, The Luwang Salai, The Gourmet Maniacs, and The Drukyul Gi Dwo, each bringing their own unique flair, flavors, and creative culinary vision to the table.
The competition was graced by the presence of Chef Saikat Sarkar, Sous Chef at Vivanta, Guwahati, whose expertise and discerning judgment ensured a fair and professional evaluation of the culinary masterpieces presented by the students. After an intense and flavorful contest, the team The Alchemists emerged as the first-place winners, comprising Chureshwar Sanasam, Roson Thapa, J. Olivia Namesha Marbaniang, and Soraesham Taniya C. The second position was secured by The Culinary Crew, consisting of Feroza Akhter, Nirmal Ranjeet Karna, Md. Mesbah Subedi, and Tanvima Islam Mitul. The third-place was awarded to Drukyul Gi Dwo, with team members Anjali Biswa, Hang Moti Limbu, Sourav Kumar, and Shree Kumar Khadal. A consolation prize was presented to The Gourmet Maniacs, represented by Gur Karan Singh, Nirmal Ranjeet Karna, Sudnan Subedi, and Milan Boro, in recognition of their effort and innovation.
“Rock on Fire” continues to be a cornerstone event for the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, fostering not only culinary excellence but also preparing students to compete and succeed at national and international platforms.
