Closing Ceremony of 5-Day Performing Arts Workshop at Assam down town University!

The 5-day intensive workshop on Performing Arts concluded with a grand closing ceremony held at the Assam down town University campus. The event was graced by eminent personalities from the field of arts including veteran Assamese actor Pranjal Saikia, Purnima Saikia, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and Sattriya exponent Anita Sharma, and renowned actor Udayan Duarah.

The workshop was guided by expert mentors in various domains of Performing Arts. The acting sessions were conducted by Pankhi Kashyap, while Hirak Jyoti Das and Sharat Das mentored the vocal music sessions. The Bharatnatyam sessions were led by Abhishruti Sarma and Kamalprit Kaur. Nibir Dev Sarma guided the participants in flute, while Deep Jyoti Teron mentored tabla. The Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Mr. Utpal Datta, played a key role in coordinating the workshop and the concluding event.

The closing ceremony commenced with the Dean of Studies' insightful speech, emphasizing the importance of preserving India’s rich but endangered performing art forms such as Devadasi dance, Ojapali, and others. He also highlighted the ongoing and upcoming initiatives by Assam down town University to document and promote these traditions through various academic and cultural projects.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants, marking the successful completion of a week filled with learning, creativity, and artistic growth.
