Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Assam down town University hosted a seminar on "Cancer Epidemiology".
Dr Manigreeva Krishnatreya, Assistant Medical Superintendent and In Charge of the Department of Cancer Registry and Epidemiology, Bhubaneshwar Borooah Cancer Institute, Assam, shared his valuable insights during the event. In his lecture, Dr. Krishnatreya emphasized the importance of epidemiological studies and discussed various risk factors associated with cancer, including lifestyle choices, environmental exposures, and genetic predispositions. He highlighted that cancer is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in Northeast India, which has a high prevalence of cancer cases. Dr. Krishnatreya also discussed strategies to reduce the cancer burden through effective prevention, early detection, and improved treatment outcomes. The seminar was attended by undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members, fostering an engaging discussion on this critical public health issue.
